What are Content Credentials (C2PA)?
An open standard for signed provenance information embedded in files.
Last updated:
C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) defines Content Credentials: a signed manifest embedded in an image, audio or video file that records which tool created or edited it. Several AI generators add a manifest declaring that the content was “created using generative AI”.
The analyzer detects C2PA manifests in JPEG, PNG, WebP and MP4/MOV files and reads the claim generator and the declared digital source type. It does not verify the cryptographic signature in this version; use the official verifier at contentcredentials.org/verify for that.
Manifests are easily lost: most social networks remove them when you upload a file.
